Deutsch Dojo web trainer

Effective date: 2 August 2026

Deutsch Dojo ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you use the Deutsch Dojo web trainer at deutschdojo.com (the "Service").

Deutsch Dojo is a German language exam trainer published by Bearacle LLC. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

There are separate policies for the mobile apps: iOS and Android. They describe the same service and the same database — only the platform-specific details differ.

1. Information we collect

Deutsch Dojo collects only what it needs to save your progress and rank practice results.

a) Account information

An account is required to practise, and signing in is handled entirely through Google Sign-In. From your Google account we receive:

We never see, receive or store your Google password. Your session is managed by Supabase Auth.

b) Profile and display name

We store a display name and avatar for you, taken from your Google account by default. You can switch your profile to anonymous at any time from the account panel, which replaces your name on every public screen with a generated alias such as "Anonym 7".

c) Practice and exam data

When you complete an exam module, a round of the email trainer, or another scored activity, we save:

Your written answers and their feedback are private to your account. Other players can see your scores and display name on the leaderboard, but the database view that serves public results masks your answers and feedback unless you are the signed-in owner of that attempt.

d) Data stored in your browser

The Service keeps some data in your browser's local storage so it loads quickly and remembers your setup:

This data stays in your browser except as described in this policy, and clearing your site data removes it.

e) Technical information

Our hosting provider processes standard request data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse.

f) What we do not collect

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing profiling.

3. AI grading of written answers

The Schreiben module, the Sprechen module and the email trainer are graded by an AI examiner. When you submit one of these tasks, the Service sends the following to our own server endpoint, which forwards it to Google Gemini:

Your name, email address and account identifier are not included in that request. Google processes the text under its own terms and privacy policy. Please avoid entering personal details, real addresses or anything sensitive in your practice answers.

The returned score and feedback are saved with your attempt so you can review them later.

4. Public leaderboard

Deutsch Dojo has a shared leaderboard. When you complete an attempt, the following becomes visible to other players:

Your written answers, the examiner feedback and your email address are never shown to other players.

5. How your data is stored

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard measures. If you use both the web trainer and the Deutsch Dojo mobile app with the same Google account, both read and write the same profile and results.

6. Third-party services

Deutsch Dojo relies on the following third-party services:

These providers may process limited data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

7. Data retention

We retain your profile and exam attempts for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account and its data at any time from the account panel — see the FAQ for the steps, or email us and we will do it for you.

Some aggregated, anonymous data may be retained for analytical purposes after individual account deletion.

8. Your rights and controls

You may:

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct, port or erase your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's privacy

Deutsch Dojo is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International data transfers

Our service providers may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
